"Freedom Island" extra episode -- background slideshow for our narrator Bethany -- plus news about a change in schedule -- Garbo
In the "write what you know" vein, I set my audio suspense story on the southeast side of Indianapolis, where I grew up. Bethany, the narrator of "Freedom Island," was born thirty years after I was, but from looking at Google Maps, I can see that some parts of Indy look a lot like they did when I moved away in 1976.
As Bethany tells about her life and struggles to solve the difficult issue at the center of the story,As I tell the story, I'm picturing miles of road lined with small houses and big store signs and rfast food estaurants. Red brick buildings house schools and fire stations and re-purposed factories. I thought maybe this slideshow would be helpful if you're a listener.
Scheduling note: Up till now, "Freedom Island" has posted to YouTube twice a month, and each Wednesday slide show with audio has been about a half-hour long. But starting about two weeks from the day this blog post the "Freedom Island" episodes will be weekly. Beginning on January 24, each installment will be about fifteen minutes long and it will appear on Tuesday.
