Consortium of Seven: Year 4

      Locally, I'm heading into an often-rainy Friday and Saturday, which is likely okay on the balance because I have plenty do do indoors -- and being able to catch a nap here or there ain't bad either. Sun's set to return Sunday, in time for Father's Day, but I'm not rushing to plow through the weekend.       Any text in blue has been added later than Friday.       This week's new arrivals will start off with two I mentioned last week , as each arrived just yesterday: The start of the second season of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds on Paramount +, and the full five-episode dump of season six of the generally dark, tech-connected anthology, Black Mirror on Netflix.         Another weekend looms!       Two pieces of personal trivia in advance of a couple items in this week's piece: I have never seen the 1997 film The Full Monty (though I know much about it, both in terms of plot and it's amazing box office arc from an opening week flop to a staggering, word-of-mouth-driven success), and I've never eaten a Flamin' Hot Cheetoh.       That noted...       Landing today on Peacock is a recent theatrical outing, a comedy horror one, for Nic Cage and Nicholas Hoult.        It hit theaters in mid-April, and was one of the films I came close to bothering to go out to see. It looks like great fun, and now looking into the box office for it (it did terribly there, not even hitting a worldwide gross of $26 million against its $65 million production budget) I almost feel a little guilty.        It's a story developed by comics wri...

      As this week rolled out, I was expecting to be kept busy enough, including a medical issue for Friday, that I wanted to get Friday's piece together ahead of time.       I'll note that the second season of Sweet Tooth (Netflix) not only ended on interesting notes, but let us know that a final, third season is already in the works.     Also, the sci-fi, female empowerment series The Power wrapped its first season on Amazon Prime this past Friday, and I'm hoping in the near future we'll receive word that a second season has been approved. I'm unsure how much the writers' strike may slow down even this process.
