Happy Thursday, everyone! Fall is seriously coming in, it's Spooktober movie time, but it's still a little warm here in Richmond. Sadly, I've not been shopping much lately but let's look at what I've found lately.

Look, I've nothing really snappy to say about this. I'm a sucker for Spider-Man stuff and come on, it's a semi-posable Peter. I wish the elbows and knees were also posable, but you can't have everything. I love the classic suit look here and the huge eyes (I've never been a big fan of a Spidey with tiny eyes).

Do I have a weird love of goofy Halloween stuff? Absolutely. So yes, I love that the eyes on this ghost flash on and off. Also, that the arm on it is vaguely imperious like it is commanding you, "YOU WILL BE SCARED BY ME! OR AT LEAST AMUSED!" It's so weirdly cute.

My final thing this week isn't a thrift store but welcome to the new additions to our household, Sofia and Liam. Brother and sister kittens we got to bulk up our family of cats, that's Sofia on the top with the little white lip spot and Liam is lower with his big white nose. They're already getting bigger, exploring the house and developing their own personalities (Sofia is a little more skittish to me, and Christina refers to Liam as Velcro for how she follows us around). They're simply adorable and I can't wait to see what they grow up to be.

My recommendation for this week, based on it being covered on this week's episode of Number One Movie In America, is 1992's The Good Son. I'd somehow never seen it until this week and good gravy, this movie is dark. A wonderful and creepyMacaulay Culkin performance anchors this riff on The Bad Seed, but Elijah Wood is also excellent. Sadly, most of the adult stuff doesn't quite work but hey, the movie is a tight 92 minutes and really nails the slick feel of a '90s horror movie.
The Good Son is currently streaming on Starz as well as the usual places for purchase and rent.
